ATR - All Terrain Racing Christmas Edition

Coverdisk from Team 17, released in 1994 for the commodore amiga. ATR or all terrain racing is a classic 2D racing game.

ALL TERRAIN RACING
Welcome to the world of arcade style racing, a world of slick, smooth action Christmas Edition
gruelling tracks. All Terrain Racing combines exciting,
addictive and finely honed gameplay with state of the art Amiga programming to bring
you a game of unmatched quality in its genre.

Featuring simultaneous a well balanced one player
arcade challenge, ATR leaves all other race pretenders way back on the starting grid.

To load ATR, turn off your Amiga and insert Disk One. Turn on your machine and
the program will commence to load, after a while, the title screen will appear and
you may choose the game options.

GAMEPLAY
ATR sees players racing over many varied courses either in single player arcade mode
against four other CPU drivers or simultaneous two player battle mode.

From the main menu, you can choose between ONE PLAYER, TWO PLAYER.

In single player mode. you are up against an ever increasingly impressive selection of
CPU controlled drivers. You will be able to improve your car and the strategy
used in deciding what and when to improve your vehicle is very important.
Also, during the race you can pickup temporary bonus items that last for either the
duration of the race or for a short period of time.
Examples are ACCELERATION ICONS, IMPROVED BRAKING, DAMAGE
REDUCTION SHIELDS, etc. You may also find cash pick-ups which add to the
amount of improvement you can administer after the race is completed.

Each race takes place over six laps, bonuses are awarded for winning, lapping CPU
opponents and gaining the record lap/race time.

FOREST TRACKS
This snow-capped Alpine location through dense forests provide a stern test on ice,
snow and grass. Rookies are best keeping to a 4x4 vehicle on these courses as
Formula cars and buggies will slide at higher speeds.
Whichever location you choose, you will play the other tracks in ascending order.
It is impossible to play the latter three course types until these three have been
negotiated.

Now you must select your vehicle from the following

4x4 JEEP
lixcellcnt for cross country and hardy terrains, this is a good bet. It’s also a little bit
cheaper than the other available vehicles and therfore leaves more room for
improvement from the remains of your starting cash.

HYDRA BUGGY
This good all-round vehicle provides good to average performance on most courses
and is a great vehicle to start with. It does cost more than the Jeep but should mean
you can start at any location in a vehicle which will fare reasonably well..

FORMULA SPECIAL
This areodynamic mean machine really cuts the mustard on road tracks but do be
careful on other surfaces. It’s quite costly so think hard about starting with this car...
and, if you do select this car, try the sports scenario first!

After purchasing your vehicle, you can then improve it in the shop
